Sigthora Odins

WORLDS CORNERS
-The furthest inner reaches, the release of what´s been held-
Nothing is entirely predictable, and so the idea emerged to play with the concept of corners and nooks within the circular form.
Pleasure and Pain,
Pleasure and Pain
is a series consisting of fluidity on steel canvases. These are reflections on the desire to experience pleasure, alongside the reminder that pain often goes hand in hand with it, and vice versa. Here, there is a play with dualism that accompanies bittersweet human experience.
Untitled
Untitled
This work is created using recessive and dominant colour combinations. In this piece, as in the work Horn heims, salt is used, which is naturally cleansing and carries preservative qualities.
HRAFNKELL ELVARSSON
Fæðingarár: 1990
Hrafnkell er ungur myndlistarmaður frá Akureyri, þar sem hann býr og starfar í dag. Hann útskrifaðist af listnámsbraut VMA, stundaði nám við Kunsthöjskolen i Holbæk í Danmörku og lauk diplomanámi í stafrænni hönnun frá Tækniskólanum. Hrafnkell hefur verið mjög virkur í listsköpun sinni og haldið einkasýningar í Reykjavík og á Akureyri.
Andlitið er grunnurinn. Hrafnkell vinnur með djúpstæð hughrif og sýnir andlit í átökum eða firringu. Í andlitsmyndum Hrafnkels birtist einhver sannleikur sem fæstir koma auga á nema í gegnum hið ljóðræna eða óhlutbunda sem í listinni leynist.

Year of birth: 1990
Hrafnkell is a young visual artist from Akureyri, where he currently lives and works. He graduated from the art program at VMA, studied at Kunsthøjskolen in Holbæk, Denmark, and completed a diploma in digital design from the Technical College. Hrafnkell has been highly active in his artistic practice and has held solo exhibitions in both Reykjavík and Akureyri.
The face is the foundation. Hrafnkell works with profound emotions and portrays faces in conflict or alienation. In Hrafnkell’s portraits, a certain truth emerges—one that few can perceive except through the poetic or the abstract that lies hidden in art.SELECTED WORKS:
